CTE Introduction Program Expectations

Delivery Guidelines  |  Accountability

  1. Teach the Full Year CTE Introduction Program - Approximately 150 days - Minimum

  2. Deliver the 19 Career Development Activities in Sequence Throughout the Year

    Utilize the Student Record Books and Chart Your Future Student Posters
    Awareness Activities:
                1.    The Dream - The Real Game
                2.    The World of Work - The Real Game
                3.    What's My Line - The Real Game
                4.    Reality Check - The Real Game
             
    Self-Knowledge Activities:
                5.    Occupations Brainstorm
                6.    Connecting Personality to Career Clusters
                7.    Discovering Career Interests - Career Futures
                8.    Identifying Abilities and Talents/Developing Skills
                9.    Understanding Learning Styles
                10.  Recognizing Values and Career Preferences
                11.  Moving Beyond Stereotypes: Non-traditional Occupations
                12.  Climbing Skills Mountain - Career Futures
             
    Education and Occupational Exploration and Career Planning Activities:
              13.  Making Informed Career Choices
              14.  Searching for Occupations - Career Futures
              15.  Understanding Group Behaviors and Attitudes
              16.  Developing Positive Employment Traits
              17.  Increasing Career Options Through Education/Lifelong Learning - Career
                     Futures
              18.  Balancing Life Roles
              19.  Classroom Small Group SEOP - Conduct During the Year, Not the Last                  Activity

  3. Conduct a CTE Introduction Orientation 2-3 days, and Wrap-Up 1-2 days

  4. Provide a Minimum of 6 Days of Work-Based Learning Activities

  5. Work as a CTE Introduction Team - CTE Endorsed Teachers, Counselors, Administrators, and Work-based Learning Coordinators.

  6. Deliver 150 Days of Career and Technical Education Curriculum
    Agriculture, Business, Family and Consumer Sciences, Health Science and Technology, Marketing, Personal Economics, and Technology & Engineering

  7. Participate in Summer CTE Introduction Inservice Activities

  8. Curriculum Should Be Delivered by CTE-endorsed Teachers from at Least Two CTE Program Areas.

  9. Update Equipment and Supplies as Suggested.

  10. Provide Feedback to the Utah State Office of Education
