Suggested Age:   8 to 12 years Rating:  Good
Description:  Kid's Typing is a program designed for children ages 7-12 concentrating on speed, hand/key positions, rhythm, and accuracy.  Spooky, a friendly, animated ghost welcomes the typer into the program and is enthusiastic about getting started on a new lesson.  Each lesson takes place in Spooky's "attic", after the a lesson is practiced, the typer moves to another part of the house such as the kitchen, dining room, and bedroom where the keys are practiced again, but for a longer period of time.  While the child types, there is cute animation to keep the child amused.  After the practice lesson of seven to ten lines is completed, a screen comes up showing how the child has done on the lesson.  Children are shown their total keystrokes to date, their words per minute, accuracy, time it took them to complete the lesson, and their slowest and fastest keys.  Kid's Typing moves quickly.  The child is introduced to the "home row" keys and after about two lines of practice in the "attic" is evaluated elsewhere in the house.  This is what happens over and over in the program; they typer is taught a series of keys, practices them, and is then evaluated.
