PRE- AND POST-TEST TIMED WRITING

Directions:
Open a blank document in any word processor or notepad and begin typing the timing when your teacher tells you to.  Do not press ENTER/RETURN until you reach the end of the paragraph.  If you finish typing the paragraph before time is up, start again and keep typing.

Remember, type without looking at your hands!

      You have come a long way in a very short time.

To figure how fast you typed, follow these steps:

Look at the number to the right of the last complete line you typed.

Then, if you typed a partial line, draw an imaginary line down to the number scale at the bottom of the paragraph. You can count the number on the left of your line.

Add the two numbers together to find out your typing speed.
