The ProStart program, developed and managed by the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation (NRAEF), is a nationwide system of high school restaurant and foodservice courses linked with mentored worksite experiences.

While attending high school, students will learn the basics of the foodservice industry. Students learn from a specially designed curriculum that emphasizes real-work experiences. Students can also travel to a job-site where they can be given opportunities to practice what they have learned.

Students in ProStart have the opportunity to take this two-year program designed to help them toward a promising career in hospitality. Students learn the basic skills of the foodservice industry...from the History of Food Service and food preparation to Communication with Customers and Business Math. They learn this from a specially designed curriculum that emphasizes real on-the-job skills.

This website has been created to help students, mentors, and ProStart High School Instructors learn more about ProStart. Students can find information here on competitions; businesses can find information about becoming mentors; and teachers can get lesson plan helps, competition information, recipes, and use the ProStart Listserve.
