Kindergarten
The USOE created the optional Kindergarten Assessment for two primary reasons:
- To provide LEAs with an assessment for reporting the success of their (OEK) Optional Extended-Day Kindergarten Programs.
- To meet the request from the Utah State Legislature asking for accountability regarding the results of the OEK Programs.
The assessment was designed as a pre and post Kindergarten assessment, assessing the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are developmental and age appropriate concepts for young children entering and exiting Kindergarten in Utah. The USOE Kindergarten Assessment is aligned to the current Utah English Language Arts and Mathematics Core Curriculum.
