Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)

The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) is in the process of refining and implementing a strategic vision for Utah public education. Additionally, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) offers states an opportunity to articulate and implement the foundational components for this strategic vision in connection to federal funding and accountability measures. ESSA allows education leaders and stakeholders to rethink their own accountability, funding, school improvement and grant-making systems by gathering input from the people who know their state best.

USBE invites interested stakeholders representing a diversity of student populations to participate in the ESSA Consolidated State Plan Working Groups. The purpose of the working groups is to engage in the development of goals and strategies that are specifically aligned to the USBE Strategic Plan.

Stakeholder engagement and feedback will also assist in the creation of the Consolidated State Plan that will be submitted to the United States Department of Education. Individuals interested in participating in specific work groups should complete the ESSA Stakeholder Application (Online Survey). While every attempt will be made to include all those who desire to participate, it is possible that not everyone will be included in this phase. There will be additional opportunities for participation and input throughout the coming months.

Assessment and Accountability Survey

USBE invites interested stakeholders representing a diversity of student populations to participate in the ESSA Consolidated State Plan Working Groups.

While some of the working groups have already begun work on respective portions of their plans, it is still critical to have stakeholder input. You can provide input for the Assessment and Accountability workgroup by responding to the USBE survey.
