Grant Competition Notification (New)
The Utah State Office of Education, Adult Education Services is opening an Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA) Competition. The focus of AEFLA is to provide adult basic education, English as a second language instruction, and/or adult secondary completion/GED preparation programs. This competition is open only to Utah entities.
Intent to Apply
Adult Education programs intending to compete for AEFLA 2012-2013 funds must submit the “Intent to Apply” form. “Intent to Apply” forms must be received by the USOE Adult Education Services by 5:00 p.m. April 2, 2012. Forms must have all applicable signatures (no signature stamps or electronic signatures) and may be faxed, mailed or hand delivered to the USOE Adult Education Services.

Adult education empowers individuals to become self-sufficient, with skills necessary for future employment and personal successes. We assist adults to become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency while completing a secondary education.
Utah Adult Education is a program of instruction below the collegiate level for adults. Utah Adult Education is comprised of Adult High School Completion (AHSC/ASE), Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
Effective July 1, 2011
- The cost to take the GED Tests will be $85.00.
- The cost to retake the Language Arts/Writing subtest will be $25.00.
- The cost to retake the other subtests will be $20.00 per subtest.
