GED Testing and Preparation

The Utah Adult Education Program attempts to increase student understanding of the value of education in gaining knowledge and developing skills necessary for adult responsibilities and a successful future. Teachers can help adult students unlock the door for future success.

General Education Development (GED) preparation provides instruction in the five content areas of the GED Test: Language Arts; Reading and Writing; Social Studies; Science; and Mathematics.

The GED may be earned by passing a five-part exam in the areas of language arts-writing, language arts-reading, social studies, science, and mathematics. A GED can open the door to further education and can improve employment.

Tests

Students must meet the passing standard for five tests: Language Arts/Writing Skills, Language Arts/Reading, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics. A GED preparation course can prepare students for the test. Exams are offered at testing centers across the state. A practice test can be given as a predictor for successfully passing the GED tests.
