Safety Certification with Utah State Office of Education
As part of the application for a secondary science endorsement, we ask that all applicants complete a safety certification. This certification process is free and helps assure that all of our science teachers are knowledgeable about the practices necessary for safe lab experiences for students.
Once you have completed the entire course, please e-mail your completed worksheets to sarah[dot]young[at]schools[dot]utah[dot]gov(Sarah Young). They will be checked for accuracy and completion and then you will be sent a safety course certificate of completion that you can use toward your science endorsement application.
You are also welcome to complete this requirement with safety courses offered through your district and/or Flinn Scientific.
Please note: We are going to be discontinuing this current self-paced course on December 15, 2013 as we move to a free four-week online class in partnership with UEN that is associated with USOE credit for the spring of 2014
All current safety coursework through this online course system will need to be completed and submitted to USOE by midnight on Sunday, December 15, 2013. No new coursework will be accepted after that point and teachers will be directed to the online safety course you have designed.
The course registration for the new four-week online safety course will begin on December 2, 2013. Please check back on that date for an available registration link.
