Presentation:        Cortney Rowland: Outreach Plan

Learning Point Associates program associate Courtney Rowland urged widespread stakeholder involvement in introducing a statewide differentiated compensation plan or plan guidelines. Rowland said her employer would assist in putting focus groups together this fall as well as town hall meetings this winter.

Presentation:        Larry Shumway:   Concept Model

Deputy Superintendent Larry Shumway offered a concept model of what a differentiated compensation package might look like. It was based on the five points of the model earlier agreed upon by the Work Group: reward instructional quality; reward collaborative practices; parent, student, community voice; leadership, professional roles; and reward student gains. There was some discussion about moving forward with either a statewide differentiated compensation plan or guidelines in light of district and charter school one-time, performance-based compensation plans, but there appeared to be enough support in the group to continue its work.
